Since its inception five years ago, 45 young leaders have graduated from the Adventure Travel Trade Association’s internship program, during which time they gained experience across all departments while working with the regional, research, membership, product development, events, and marketing teams.
“At the end of each term, we survey the interns and the supervisors so we can understand which parts of the program work the best and where there is room for improvement,” said Mira Poling Anselmi, ATTA Vice President of Community, who leads the internship program alongside Diego Arelano, ATTA Senior Marketing Manager. “Based on the feedback we have received, we have found the right balance of activities and projects for our interns to feel more connected to the community and better prepared to work in the adventure travel industry upon graduation. We need young people to know that there are viable careers in adventure which allow them make a positive impact on the world.”
The ATTA is currently hiring interns for the next term, which will take place January-June 2024, with the possibility to extend to the end of the year. The global ATTA team operates remotely, so interns will be able to participate from any location where they have access to a computer and the internet. The internship is part-time and offers flexible hours with a commitment of 12-15 hours per week. Positions are unpaid, but the ATTA works with universities and colleges to offer course credit. Preference is given to current students and recent graduates, but all individuals interested in gaining work experience within the adventure travel industry are encouraged to apply.
